This is a bare-bones lens - it has no focus distance markings whatsoever. The 18-55mm IS II lens had a very nice MM (Maximum Magnification) spec of 0.34x, and the 18-55mm IS STM take a tiny step forward with a 0.36x spec. The IS STM MFD tests accurately to its 9.8" (250mm) minimum focus distance spec. The Canon 18-55mm IS II is a tiny plastic kit lens that works very well. Autofocus. Performance top. Autofocus is fast enough, but uses a noisy little motor. It's not silent. Manual Focus. performance top. Manual focus is goofy; you have to move the switch on the lens to MF and then turn the thin little front section of the lens. Distortion

I suggest contact Canon Support for professional guidance. Most of the 18-55mm lenses that are included in many Rebel Camera Kits are relatively inexpensive, and most will usually cost more to repair than to replace. But, not all 18-55mm lenses are created equally, as there have been new and improved versions of the lens released over the years.
I have the same problem, a Canon EFS 18-55 IS lens and the autofocus does not work correctly, but in my case only in one way. It retracts but does not extend. If I extend manually the lens, the autofocus retracts it till in focus, but if I retract it manually it does not extend till in focus, I can ear and feel something but no movement

"Could a ribbon cable popped loose?" The camera uses two different focusing schemes to AF in VF vs LV. The lens does not. It has one way. If the lens does AF using one or the other it suggests the lens is OK. However, it looks like you have eliminated the camera so this seems to be the perfect ti

The lens however (though it appeared perfectly fine) was not so lucky. It rattled when you shook it, and the Automatic focus had completely stopped working. You would think that this is where that story would have ended, and the next begun, but actually I have continued to use that lens with manual focus only for about two years now until In this tutorial I'll be showing you how you can disassemble your Canon EF-S 18-55 Lens and fix the Auto Focus problem. If your auto focus does not work, and

I have an 18-55 IS II. It won't autofocus at all. I can't hear the gears running, as if the lens doesn't know that it's on autofocus mode. I've also tried this on the 55-250, and the 50mm f1.8, but those lenses are able to autofocus well. I've opened my lens and checked the gears, but all the gears

So, I just bought a Rebel t6i video making kit and it came with the EFS 18-55mm STM IS lens. It worked great for about a week and now it will not stay in auto focus mode. To clarify a bit of what is happening: The lens has AF turned ON. On my camera display, it will continually flicker back a
Take a look at Canon 18-55 autofocus (AF) repair , Canon 18-55 autofocus (AF) repair, Canon EF-S 18-55 IS disassembly and flex cable repair - Part 1. You can try opening the lenses and diagnose if this is the problem. I think you can find a replacement cable on eBay or import it directly from China (about US$12.00+shipping)
I have a Canon EOS Rebel T3i. The lens is a Canon EFS 18-55mm I think a pretyt standard lens. We've been having issues lately when we press the button halfway down to take a picture with the image not coming into focus and therefore not allowing the picture to be taken. For the life of me I can't figure out why.
Canon 100D won’t focus. Go to solution. Cogitare. Contributor. Options. 02-10-2019 08:25 AM. I have probably changed a setting or so but I can’t figure this out. When the camera hasn’t been used for a couple of hours, I can only do about 1-2 autofocusing before the tracking zone on the screen becomes red. (The camera lens won’t move at ukoTH2.
