They should really tone down the price now it's old, but Anet has a history of ignoring old parts of the game in favour of "whatever they're doing now". 8.

That interpretation - that they're charging the full price of the expansion just for the skyscale - only works if you want nothing else that's included, and then only if the most extreme example of "a more streamlined collection" is accurate and people who buy the expansion are effectively given the skyscale just for owning it.
