Need some advise. 2006 GMC Canyon 64,000 mi, Visitor. Rough idle, Check Engine light (P0300), cylinder leak test shows #2 cylinder leaking (intake valve). 2005 GMC Canyon 106,000 mi, Visitor. Determined that the valve seats were bad and the cylinder head needs to be rebuilt at the cost of over $2000.00.
If you have an engine misfire, get it looked at ASAP, you don't raw fuel during into the exhaust clogging up your catalytic convertors. Diagnosis is usually around $80 for a mechanic to do it, then the cost of replacing the spark plugs or coil. Add another couple hundred.
Investigate the Gun Misfire. Misfires are not that uncommon. However, misfires due to a defective primer are rare. So when you have a misfire, don't strike the primer twice (for examination purposes), but do investigate and fix the problem so it does not reoccur at a very bad time. Do not just chalk it up to a "bad round" and move on.However, it does still happen, and old spark plugs can keep the engine from firing correctly. Another possible explanation is a faulty fuel injector. If your vehicle’s fuel injector becomes clogged, then your engine will misfire. Or, sometimes your cylinder’s ignition coils fail, and there’s no spark to fire your engine in the first place. Code P0306 occurs when the ECM (engine control module) detects a misfire on engine cylinder number 6. When cylinder number 6 misfires, it means that the air and fuel mixture in that cylinder has failed to ignite. As a result, the engine’s speed fluctuates, causing the crankshaft position sensor signal to vary. The ECM detects this and reports Steps to replace a bad fuel injector. Step 1: Open the hood of your car and start the vehicle. Step 2: Locate the fuse box and unplug the fuel pump relay. You can identify the relay from the description provided underneath the cover. You may need some slip-joint pliers to help pull it out.
