Options. To eliminate the hdd as the problem, unplug the ps3 from the wall. remove the hdd and then plug back in. turn on the ps3 WITHOUT the hdd in it. Don't worry it doesn't harm it at all. So ps3 was having an issue saying that it was corruoted and needed to be restore so I did that and it would go up to 80% and then a black screen would come up. I searched online for a fix and apparently going to safe mode and restoring to default settings would fix it.
